Ollie’s Residency: Introducing the Place Board & Foundation Skills
Meet Ollie! 🐾 We are currently in the middle of an Immersive Residency, and today is a big day: we’re introducing the Place Board. The place board is one of the most effective tools we use to teach a dog how to "switch off" and stay calm in a specific spot. In this session, we’re layering Ollie’s foundation commands—Sit and Down—directly onto the board to build his confidence and clarify exactly what we’re asking of him. What Ollie is mastering in this session: Targeting the Board: Learning to seek out his place as a "safe zone" for rewards. Position Consistency: Practicing Sit and Down on a raised surface to improve his precision. Impulse Control: Building the beginning stages of duration (staying put until released). Ollie is a quick learner and seeing him figure out the "rules" of the board is a great example of how we bridge the gap between simple commands and real-world relaxation. Great job, Ollie!

Ozzie’s 2-Week Residency: Mastering "Leave It" & Impulse Control
The "Drop-Proof" Dog! 🐾🚫 Meet Ozzie! He is currently in our 2-Week Immersive Residency program, tackling a challenge many dog owners know all too well: the urge to grab everything that hits the floor. In this session, we’re working on a rock-solid "Leave It" command. Whether it’s a dropped treat, a toy, or a household object, Ozzie is learning that the reward comes from ignoring the distraction and staying engaged with his handler. This type of impulse control is vital for a peaceful, multi-dog home. What Ozzie is demonstrating: Immediate Redirection: Choosing to look at the trainer the second an object falls. Calm Focus: Staying in a seated position even when "temptations" are moving around him. Household Manners: Building the foundation to prevent resource guarding and keep everyone safe. Ozzie is showing great mental maturity during his residency. It's all about teaching him to think before he reacts!

Binx’s 3-Week Residency: Mastering "Down" and "Drop It" Commands
Meet Binx! At just 6 months old, this energetic pup is enrolled in our 3-Week Immersive Residency program. In this session, we're working in the comfort of my home in Crown Point to refine his foundation skills. What we're focusing on in this video: The "Down" Command: Building consistency and duration even when things get exciting. Mastering "Drop It": Teaching Binx to release his favorite toys on command, an essential skill for any young puppy. Focus & Engagement: Using his daily meals instead of treats to build a deep, working relationship and reliable focus. By training in a home environment, we're preparing Binx for a life of good manners and clear communication with his family. Keep up the great work, Binx!

Albie's Off-Leash Journey_ Real World Proofing in Crown Point
Meet Albie! 🐕 He’s currently in our Immersive Residency program, working hard to master the art of off-leash freedom. In this session, we’re out in the real-world environment of Crown Point, putting his skills to the test. Training in a controlled room is one thing, but maintaining focus on a sidewalk with squirrels, cars, and neighbors requires a whole different level of engagement. What Albie is demonstrating in this video: Reliable Recall: Choosing to return even when the world is interesting. Environmental Neutrality: Learning to ignore distractions and keep focus on the handler. The Path to Freedom: Showing the transition from a long-line safety net to true off-leash reliability. Our residency program is designed to build this kind of rock-solid trust and communication between dog and owner. Great job, Albie!
